Introduction
Ellistrin is located in the picturesque town of Hawick in the Scottish Borders. This Victorian villa was established as a popular guest house in 1990, gaining three star status from Scottish Tourist Board, and is open from mid April until October. It retains the feel of a welcoming family home however and this is contributed to by the large number of guests who return again and again.
There is ample private parking space within the garden alongside the house.
Among the local attractions are:
- the award-winning Wilton Lodge Park with its peaceful walks and floral beds,
- museums such as Drumlanrig's Tower (which currently houses an exhibition commemorating motor cycle legend Steve Hislop, or Hizzy as well as re-creating earlier times in Hawick), and Hawick Museum within Wilton Lodge Park.
- mill shops selling cashmere and lambswool garments, from Hawick producers such as Barrie, Hawick Cashmere, Lyle & Scott , N.Peal, Peter Scott, Pringle - strictly in alphabetical order!
- Scottish Premier rugby club, Hawick ('the Greens'), who play nearby at Mansfield Park, and
- three golf courses (Hawick, Minto and the Woll), as well as two golf driving ranges
Why not make Ellistrin your base for your break in the Scottish Borders, exploring the triangle between Edinburgh, Carlisle and Newcastle, each a journey of about one hour.
